Within school, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school we educate and provide boundaries for young pupils to make choices safety, through of provision of a safe environment and empowering education. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and advise how to exercise these safely, for example through our E-Safety and SMSC lessons. Whether it be through choice of challenge, of how they record, of participation in our numerous extra-curricular clubs and opportunities, pupils are given the freedom to make choices.
We can make our own choices in school.
We can choose when we want to go to the toilet, when we want a drink, who we sit next to for lunch and how hard our classwork is.
We have the freedom to make choices about the level of challenge in some lessons.
We know that we have to work within safe boundaries to make safe choices.
As a school we have various visitors that come into our school to help us make safe choices. These include: Y1 Walkwise Programme, Y1/5 Fire Safety, Y6 IMPs and Surf’s Up, Y5 Bikeability, Water Safety and the NSCPP.
